There are countless factors that matter when a dentist treats a patient,

but above all,

the most critical factor is whether one can see accurately and in detail.

No matter how superior the dental materials are, or what claims are made,

unless you can 'see clearly,'

how can you perform quality treatment?

This is so fundamental that it hardly needs explaining.

If you cannot see properly, how can you fit restorations precisely and achieve aesthetic results?

While every clinic has its own preferences regarding materials, equipment, and treatment techniques,

the very foundation of dental treatment remains unchanged:

Seeing accurately and clearly before treating.

This is both the beginning and the end of quality care.

When I began my residency in 2002,

I was fortunate enough to have my own dedicated surgical microscope.

After using both loupes and the surgical microscope side by side for a year,

I reached the conclusion that for 99% of dental clinical procedures, loupes are more than sufficient. Since then, I have treated patients using the exact same pair of loupes for 24 years.

Those who have visited my clinic and observed closely may have noticed

that I always wear loupes,

and I have never examined a patient's teeth without them—not even once.

While the loupes that served as my eyes for 24 years had nothing wrong with them,

I wanted to increase the magnification,

and after learning that the short working distance had been putting unnecessary strain on my back (a helpful recommendation from the head of Carl Zeiss Korea),

I decided to upgrade to a new pair of loupes.

True to Germany's reputation as a leader in precision optics, the previous loupes were fantastic, but the new ones felt completely natural and easy to adapt to right away.

The black pair is the one I used for 24 years, and the silver pair is my new set.

Whenever you visit our clinic now, you will see me wearing these silver loupes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the director always wear dental loupes during treatment?

Because accurate visualization of the treatment area is the most critical element of dental care. No matter how advanced the materials or techniques are, precise treatment is impossible without clear vision, which is why loupes are worn during every procedure.

What prompted the switch after using the same loupes for 24 years?

The upgrade was made to achieve higher magnification and an improved working distance. While the original loupes were fully functional, the new pair provides higher detail while reducing ergonomic strain on the back caused by a shorter focal distance.

Can I receive dental implant consultations or treatment at this clinic?

No, we do not offer any consultations or procedures related to dental implants. Our practice is solely dedicated to preserving and saving severely compromised natural teeth that have been deemed hopeless or recommended for extraction.

Can I book an appointment for routine dental checkups or general care?

No, we do not handle routine checkups or minor dental procedures. Following our clinical philosophy, we focus exclusively on advanced tooth preservation, such as intentional replantation and saving teeth facing extraction.

Why rely primarily on loupes rather than a surgical microscope?

Because clinical experience has demonstrated that loupes are more than adequate for 99% of dental clinical scenarios. Having utilized both a dedicated microscope and loupes side by side during residency, loupes proved to be the most practical and effective primary magnification tool.
